June 28, 2010 - Is Your Trainer Your Perfect Match?

Since I was at the NATA show last week and spoke with so many amazing trainers, one thought crossed my mind: How does a person know when a trainer is a good fit for him/her? So after doing some research, here are some guidelines you can reference when you are on the search for the best of the best!

If you’re serious about a good strength workout, whether a newbie or a gym veteran, do yourself a favor and find a knowledgeable, experienced and certified trainer. Not only can they help you meet your fitness goals they will also push you beyond the point you would push yourself. They can help with questions regarding fatigue and recovery. They can, and should, also be able to help with your diet.

According to WebMD,

“Personal fitness trainers are not just for the buff, spandex-sporting crowd”, says Fred Klinge, chairman of the Health and Registry Board at the American College of Sports Medicine. Klinge emphasizes that the scope of personal fitness trainers has broadened. “It’s not just about weight lifting and cardio work anymore,” he tells WebMD. “It’s more about assistance in developing a healthy and fit lifestyle.”

A true expert in fitness will tell you that regardless of your routine, if you’re not attentive to a diet that supports your plan you will have a much harder time reaching your goals. Remember, next to water, our body is composed mostly of protein.

If you’re looking into hiring a personal trainer, WebMD suggests considering the following:

• The cost
• Credentials
• Other qualifications beyond certification
• Does the trainer know and respect your fitness limits
• Do you have any special restrictions that should be considered
• Ask questions!

Until next time! Happy lifting!

Hi Erik,
Thanks for your inquiry. PDCAAS values are typically reported using the scale of 0-1.0, with 1.0 being the highest. BiPro has a PDCAAS score of 1.0 (highest possible). Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Any help appreciated,
